Find A Better Way named official charity partner of Manchester United

Find A Better Way has today been named as an official charity partner of Manchester United Football Club.

Sir Bobby Charlton, who famously played for the club, serves as a club ambassador and director, and founded Find A Better Way commented: ‘I am very grateful for the support of my club, Manchester United, for joining my efforts to assist in the detection of landmines and to lessen the impact of this devastating weapon on communities throughout the world.’

Speaking via his Twitter account this afternoon, Sir Bobby added, ‘Manchester United have big hearts.’

The partnership will provide Find A Better Way with an enormous opportunity to reach a much wider audience than previously possible. It will also provide Manchester United with an opportunity to support the many members of their global fanbase who have a personal stake in the issue.

Manchester United’s Executive Vice-Chairman, Ed Woodward, said, ‘As a club we are delighted to support Sir Bobby Charlton in his vision of a landmine free world for future generations.

‘Landmines are a global problem and as a club with over 659 million fans across the world, we want to reach out and educate them on the devastating effects of landmines. This could well be something fans recognise within their own communities or by supporting Find A Better Way to help improve and develop effective detection tools and methods to free the globe of landmines.’

Find A Better Way CEO Lou McGrath is equally enthusiastic about the charity’s new partner.

‘I have travelled in many parts of the world visiting former conflict zones where people struggle daily with the danger of living among landmines and unexploded remnants of war, and in many of these countries I have met with people who tell me they are fans of Manchester United and have seen many children in Manchester United shirts. It is privilege to have Manchester United as a partner and their support in helping us with our efforts to tackle the global scourge of landmines and explosive remnants of war is a fantastic opportunity.

‘It is my sincere hope that Manchester United fans everywhere, from UK to the rest of the world, will take time to learn about this incredibly important issue, and join Sir Bobby and the rest of the Find A Better Way team as we work towards a solution.’
