CEO Lou McGrath awarded honorary doctorate
After waiting ages for an honorary doctorate to be awarded to a member of the the Find A Better Way family, two have come along just a month apart!
Find A Better Way CEO Lou McGrath OBE was yesterday awarded an honorary doctorate of laws by Leeds Beckett University. This follows the awarding of an honorary doctorate of laws to Find A Better Way founder Sir Bobby Charlton by the University of Bath in late June.
Lou received his honour for his long career in the mine action cause, which stretches back over twenty years before he accepted the top executive post at Find A Better Way earlier this year.
‘Receiving this award means a great deal to me,” said Lou. ‘It’s fantastic to get recognized for the work that I’ve achieved.’
Speaking of Lou’s award, Leeds Beckett University Chancellor, Sir Bob Murray CBE, said, ‘It is almost impossible to measure the incredible work that Lou McGrath OBE has done at an international level; campaigning against landmines and implementing clearance programmes around the world.
‘He has made a difference to the lives of so many people and is an inspiration, not just to our students and graduates – but to us all and we could not be happier to recognize his work with this award.’
